First Grade Architects!!After reading House by Mouse, first grade scholars designed their own fantasy houses that fit them perfectly. They took the fronts off of their houses to show all of the details inside. We practiced using colored pencils correctly and doing detailed illustrations!
Happy Chinese New Year!
Second grade scholars participated in a large group project to create a Chinese New Year dragon for the dragon dance. They used a cray pay and watercolor resist technique to create each body section and practiced Chinese symbols from the zodiac calendar. It's on display outside the art room in the Franklin building! Second grade scholars studied Leonardo Da Vinci with a special focus on his many amazing inventions. They created their own unique inventions using detailed and labeled drawings just like Leonardo. Their invention should solve a problem and be so detailed that the viewer can figure out what it does and how it works.
Sixth grade scholars used manikins to study human proportions and movement. They worked on drawing movement and shading with value to create depth.
Fifth grade scholars created these Japanese Scrolls inspired by the art and culture of Japan. They constructed their finished scrolls and added real Japanese calligraphy.First grade scholars used sponge painting techniques to create these beautiful and festive poinsettia flowers!
Fourth grade scholars drew from life, studying the details of their own shoes and putting their shoes in a fantastical background. They learned about warm and cool colors and had to distinguish between the two while tracing and painting.
Inspired by the Parthenon Friezes, second grade scholars learned about Ancient Greek sculpture, with a special focus on the Parthenon. They used carving techniques and tooling foil to create an aged relief sculpture.
Fifth grade scholars created zentangles on top of watercolor washes and then cut, bent, folded and stapled their design to create these amazing sculptures.
